Trail Stewardship – National Trails Day at Dilley Preserve
JUNE 3, 2023 @ 7:30 AM — 12:00 PM
Join Laguna Canyon Foundation in this large-scale Trail Stewardship event at James Dilley Preserve. Our objective is to maintain as much single-track as possible, while having a great time doing so.
Show up at 7:30am for free BREAKFAST BURRITOS!
We will be doing a combination of brushing, tread improvement, and drain work.
- Brushing is the process of pruning vegetation back to keep users on the trail.
- Tread improvement is moving dirt to rebuild eroded tread.
- Drain work is the process of creating structures, “nicks,” on the trail that allow water to sheet off the thread during rain events.
This is FUN and hard work. If you like getting your hands dirty and feeling a sense of pride in your work, then this is the event for you. Because this event will be larger than our typical Trail Stewardship, we will split participant’s into groups of 10. Each group will have a LCF staff member or long-term volunteer lead.
To conserve parking for the general public, please carpool as much as possible.
Bring:
- At least 2 liters of water!
- Sturdy, closed toed shoes
- High calorie snacks
- Sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen)
- Long sleeves recommended
- Work gloves
